We are now looking for a Lead Data Engineer to join the newly created Analytics Team.
This role will be key in helping us deliver the availability and quality of our data sets to underpin the Business Insight Reporting, Machine Learning models and Automation in decision-making. You will be working very closely with the Data Scientist team and the streams across the business such as IT, Merchandising, Marketing & Operations and help lead the scale of the Analytics team.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with multi big data sets, have the expertise to utilize data sets to drive one truth integrated system, develop coded automation in business insight and forecasting to help our teams and operations become more agile, scalable and efficient.
This is a high exposure and critical role, reporting directly to the SVP of Analytics at Sweaty Betty.
Your SB Journey:
- Design, develop and maintain scalable, automated, insightful data tables which will be the main input for the models, reports and dashboards
- With the help of the Data Scientist, use analytical and statistical rigor to solve complex problems and drive business decisions and automation
- Write high integrity code to retrieve and analyse data from database tables, learn and understand the metrics and their operational inter-actions
- Set up mechanisms to proactively measure quality of outputs and accuracy
- Create and maintain key program reports
- Lead other high calibre Data Engineers delivering their objectives and road map
Must Haves
- Bachelors/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or related field or an exceptional self-taught candidate
- Proficient in at least an Object-Oriented Language (Python...) and SQL
- Strong proven experience and credibility working with big data technologies and ML tools in e-commerce, digital or alike industry
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including ROI prioritisation, objectives/roadmap setting, agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing and operations
- Experience in leading other high calibre Data Engineers delivering their objectives and road map
- Background in supporting data scientists in conducting large scale data analysis and modelling to support business decision making
- Experience with data visualization tools like PBI/Tableau or similar BI tools
- Self-driven, with a proven ability to deliver on ambiguous projects with incomplete data
- Highly collaborative and where relevant, adopt a coaching approach with team
- An ability and interest in working in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
