Chief Product Officer

To help continue the digital and international growth of the brand, particularly in the US, we are looking to appoint a new Chief Product Officer. 

This role is about galvanising the design, buying, merchandising and QA teams, to ensure that fashion forward, technically brilliant product reaches our customer.  Engaging and collaborating with the customer is key; listening to their views and building their ideas into fabulous ranges that reflect both strong continuity product as well as seasonal trends.   

The individual will have a good understanding of all the product functions (buying, merchandising, design & garment tech), but should demonstrate an ability to modernise the supply chain and sourcing strategies, along with a bias for digital.

On your SB journey you will be:

  • Collaborating with the Chief Creative Officer (and Founder, Tamara) and Managing Director to build a strategic plan incorporating trends, market share, customer insight and distribution strategies
  • Setting yearly objectives for the departments in line with the Company’s main objectives, and ensuring these are filtered down to individual team members
  • Working closely with Design, Buying and Merchandising to develop and build four yearly collections consisting of stylish, high performance, innovative and premium products to meet the like for like sales growth target and customer needs
  • Monitoring the business performance against plan, taking appropriate action to maximise sales and profit, reduce stockholding whilst increasing stock turn
  • Managing the process and calendar for the Product Department to ensure stock availability
  • Managing the supply base alongside the VP of Buying and wider buying team; visiting factories abroad and building strong relationships with suppliers to ensure the supply chain can support Sweaty Betty’s growth plan
  • Ever conscious of improving Sweaty Betty’s impact on the environment through the production and distribution of products and leading the way to develop sustainable practices, whilst monitoring and implementing anti-Modern Slavery practices

Must Haves

  • Experience and ability to demonstrate understanding of the US market. Can clearly articulate where Sweaty Betty’s opportunities are
  • Multi-channel: experience of working with a customer who shops across multiple channels (retail, wholesale and online). Demonstrates a customer centric approach
  • Has implemented a successful online product strategy
  • Has worked with technical product such as activewear and understands quality / fit / fabric issues
  • Has the experience to modernise the supply chain and sourcing strategies
  • Emotionally intelligent, people orientated leader, good influencer, role model
  • Lives the lifestyle we promote; further demonstrated in your understanding of the customer’s needs
