Head of Buying (Maternity Cover)

We are looking for an interim Head of Buying to drive and lead our passionate and talented Buying Team of 6 on a 12-month fixed term basis.

As an individual you will believe that looking after your wellbeing and fitness is fundamental.  You are bordering on obsessive about delivering fashion trends and rebel against just following the crowd.  You will work collaboratively across the Design, Garment Tech and Merchandising teams to ensure Sweaty Betty continues to be renowned for having both beautiful and technical activewear.  Most of all, you’ll have fun while you do it, because it’s more than just a job.

Reporting in to our Chief Product Officer and working closely with the wider Product Team, this is an incredible opportunity for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and wants to part of the SB journey!

  • You will manage the product development critical path ensuring key activities completed on time & product launch dates are achieved
  • Collaborate on range development with Head of Design. Ensuring that the product reflects the brand strategy and fashion forward vision, that the ranges are without gaps or duplication, and that our commercial objectives are met
  • You will respond to current trade and constantly evaluate upcoming ranges and seasons. You are proactive in anticipating the commercial impact of decisions and take initiative. You are a person who considers the broader business strategy, including trading regions and channels (UK, US – East/West Coast)
  • You will manage & develop our supply partners & our sourcing strategy to deliver margin requirements for the business
  • Work closely with the CPO and SVP of Brand on our product marketing strategy. Identifying marketing stories and opportunities & working with the product team to deliver
  • Grow future talent by supporting team development and career progression.  A leader by example, who understands the delicate balance between when to hit the critical path, or a yoga mat!

Must Haves

  • Experience as a Head of Buying within a multichannel, fashion forward brand – Womenswear background preferred, although Activewear not essential
  • A passion for product with a commercial mind & a creative flair
  • Strong leadership & motivational skills
  • An organised team approach & a can-do flexible attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiating & influencing skills
