Assistant Buyer

What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting directly to the Buyer you will be responsible for the following:

Planning

  • Work closely with design and garment tech teams to develop seasonal collections consisting of high performance, inspirational, innovative and premium products
  • To gather and collate all seasonal review material including organising managers meeting, completing price and competitive research in both the U.K & U.S.
  • Report key weekly highlights in trade for assigned ranges

 

Buying & Product Development

  • Responsible for managing product development process for agreed ranges to ensure that all product is delivered on time. This will be done through driving critical path meetings, liaising with suppliers, ensuring all critical path dates are met and that all samples and approvals are dealt with effectively and filed appropriately
  • Support the Buyer and contribute to decisions on the product range
  • Take part in weekly fit sessions with the Buyer and Garment Tech team to ensure all products are fully functional for the intended end use and the perfect fit
  • Deliver outstanding shoot samples to Marketing, and communicate product performance features by working with e-commerce and marketing to ensure brand image and voice is consistent across all departments.

 

Other

  •  Be a point of contact and liaison with our US support office to aid them in Buying decisions
  • Build relationships both internally and externally as well as quickly building strong supplier relationships to deliver the best results to the business
  • Presenting to senior management and follow up on actions points for the department
  • Deputising for Buyer and representing the team in any required meetings
  • Manages the BAA to develop their skills and ensures efficiency in the team
  • Build relationships within the team and across the business to ensure a consistent level of communication
  • Support the Buyer on new initiatives to continuously improve the offer within our ranges

 

Must Haves

  • At least 3 years’ experience working as an established Assistant Buyer within a fashion/sportswear retailer.
  • Can demonstrate initiative, problem solving and negotiation skills and have the ability to build and develop relationships
  • High attention to detail and quality standards
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft office, especially excel and outlook

 

  • You are a strong communicator and you enjoy speaking with all levels in the business and external suppliers
  • You are quick to learn with a fine attention to detail and love to be organised. A self-starter, you always use your initiative to get things done and deliver on your objectives.
  • You are confident building strong relationships at all levels both within and outside of the organisation.
  • You are someone who thrives working in a fast paced environments and appreciates the constantly evolving nature of retail
